2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata
When
it comes to open-topped driving fun, the 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata delivers like no
other.
Driving the body and soul of the 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a
167-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Miata comes with a
close-ratio five-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed manual and a
six-speed automatic are available. For enhanced driving enjoyment, six-speed
manual Miata’s get a series of tuned pipes make up the Induction Sound Enhancer,
which delivers intake noise to the cowl just ahead of the windshield. The ISE
makes the intake noise more audible without making it obnoxiously loud to
bystanders. More smiles are delivered with 21-22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
Fuel economy is superior to the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky (based on 2009
models).
The front-mounted engine is located as far toward the center of
the car as possible for optimal handling, and suspension is tuned for super
road-gripping performance without an overly punishing ride quality. Steering,
throttle, brake and gear shift controls are engineered for optimal precision and
pleasure, and operate in a linear manner.
The look of the Miata is
aggressive, but is also aerodynamically functional and safe. The wide stance,
especially around the cockpit, not only adds a sporty flair but it makes the
Miata stronger. The edgy design of the front fascia gives it a look that means
business, but also lowers the coefficient of drag. Key body and suspension
components are made of aluminum to make a vehicle that is strong but light – and
light means fast.
The base Sport model comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, a
leather-wrapped steering wheel, power features and a six-speaker audio system
with CD player. The Touring model gets the six-speed manual, a six-CD changer,
and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Suspension Package adds a limited-slip
differential for enhanced power-to-the-road delivery, and sport-tuned Bilstein
shocks. The top-end Grand Touring model gets a BOSE audio system with seven
speakers, automatic climate control and leather seats. For 2010, the Premium
Package adds Bluetooth connectivity and SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
A strong
unibody structure joins dual front and side airbags to deliver a great safety
package. Available stability control helps the driver maintain composure under
inclement weather and accident avoidance motoring conditions.
Excellent
engineering delivers a fast, fun, lightweight, viscerally invigorating driving
machine: the 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata is ready to
run.
